A beautiful European floral study dating to the 18th century, executed primarily in sanguine chalk on laid paper, with subtle blue watercolor/gouache highlights.
The composition depicts an elegant bouquet of flowers rendered with confident draftsmanship and delicate botanical detail. Possibly by Jan van Huysum, but certainly in the manner thereof.
