Utterly charming school girl silk embroidery on a painted silk field. She is clearly headed to her garden to harvest, basket in hand. This was a popular Georgian motif—often referred to as “the Lady with the Rake”. Wonderful details—her shoes(!), wildflowers growing in the field, cottage and fence in the background. Some shattering to the silk, particularly in the upper right corner. A small area of loss to the silk in that area, as well. Wear to frame.
