Swirl pattern Nailsea glass witch ball. Witch balls were traditionally hung in windows, entrance halls, and above fireplaces to ward off evil spirits. They were particularly popular in the Victorian era. This example is missing its original collar and hanging chain, but presents well in its present form. These often had a mercury coating on the interior, but this one appears to be completely without. Minor wear around the lip.
